Staying Motivated, Safe, and Connected
SF Runs - Celebrating and Supporting Bay Area Running

Hello,
I hope you this e-mail finds you doing OK in these challenging times. Although SF Runs isn’t hosting in-person group runs right now, this newsletter contains details on new programs we've launched to help you keep motivated, run safely, and stay connected. Announcements on additional initiatives are coming soon, including a new running app.
I also wanted to say thank you to those who have been responding to this crisis in ways that demonstrate the best aspects of our character -- whether you're working on the frontlines, checking in on friends & neighbors that may need help, or implementing social distancing while running. Your actions are making a difference.
If you have suggestions on how SF Runs can be of assistance, or if you have something you'd like to offer to the SF Runs community, feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Stay safe and be well.
Leonard

1. Zooming with SF Runs - Tuesdays @ 6:30 pm
SF Runs is hosting a free online running community meetup every Tuesday at 6:30 pm. We've been hosting these sessions during the past few weeks and they've been a fun way to stay connected with fellow runners. We've even had a few people who used to run with SF Runs, but had moved to other cities, rejoin us for these virtual meetups!
All are welcome to attend, even if you haven't attended an in-person group run. The Zoom meeting for this week can be accessed here. Details for each week's session are posted on SF Runs and on this page.
2. Virtual Running & Racing
SF Runs is piloting two virtual running initiatives:
May Miles is a virtual challenge for the number of miles you can complete during the month of May. All runners who complete this challenge will receive a SF Runs digital medal. Complete details are at https://www.sfruns.com/virtual
VirtualRunning.org is a new website that is designed to help runners explore the world of virtual running. It will include FAQs about virtual races and a directory of events across the U.S.
3. Resources for Running + Social Distancing
New guidelines and tips about running + social distancing continue to be released. SF Runs has compiled a number of these articles, as well as news on recent local efforts to close streets in order to facilitate social distancing. You'll find these resources on sfruns.com.
4. Supporting Local Running Retail
I've spoken with some of the local retailers that serve our running community and they want to communicate the message that they are still operating (with some modifications).
Here is an update from A Runner's Mind:
Shop our online store for your favorite shoes.
If you need some help with what shoes are right for you, check out our Virtual Gait Analysis.
If you can’t find your size on our website or need socks, nutrition, etc.; send an email to Eileen ([email protected]) or call our Burlingame store (650-437-2217) to see how we can best serve you.
A Runner’s Mind is grateful for your efforts to shop local; thanks for your patience and cooperation during this challenging time.
Here is an update from Sports Basement:
We're still accepting web orders and shipping as quickly as possible while keeping our staff and environments safe. You can currently save 20% with code GEARUP20.
We're offering a number of free virtual fitness classes. You can view a calendar here.
We've set-up a COVID-19 page where we'll be posting ongoing updates.
5. Job Opportunities @ SF Runs
SF Runs is looking for part-time assistance in a number of digital areas (these are paid roles and work can be done remotely). If you're interested in being considered please complete this form.
6. Free Job Search Webinar - April 28
In addition to my work at SF Runs, I manage Green Jobs Network, a career platform for social impact and sustainability jobs. GJN is launching a series of free webinars to assist job seekers during these challenging times. The first program is called Navigating Your Way to A Green Career and will feature presentations by Janine Finnell, Executive Director of Leaders in Energy and Green Career Coach Beth Offenbacker, PhD, with Waterford, Inc.
This session will take place on Tuesday, April 28 @ 11 a.m. Pacific / 2:00 p.m. Eastern. It will be delivered via Zoom and slots are limited. Register via this link.
