SF Runs - Celebrating and Supporting Running in the Bay Area

Hello Runners,

Welcome to the latest edition of the SF Runs newsletter. Have a good weekend and happy running!

// start //

1. Reminder: Group training

Are you running a race over the next few months? Would you like to train with other people?

SF Runs is evaluating launching group training for upcoming SF Bay Area races. This would include weekend long runs and other workouts based on runner interest.

If you're interested in group training, let us know by completing this simple form. Thanks to those who completed the form last week!

2. Running road trip! San Diego (June 3-4) and Seattle (June 17-18)

Looking to combine running and travel? A group of SF Runs runners are organizing trips to two West Coast races in June -- the Rock 'n Roll series races in San Diego and Seattle. These are great runs which combine lots of fun, music, camaraderie, and great medals!

Runners of all paces are welcome to attend these trips and you can select from a variety of race distances. If you're interested in learning more or attending contact Elliot at [email protected].

4. Crowdsourcing running safety + news

As runners we may encounter safety issues or other items of note while running. Just yesterday, a friend shared an incident where they were chased at a park in SF during a run (the runner is OK).

SF Runs is launching a pilot project to leverage our community to enhance our safety and experiences as runners. If you encounter a safety issue or other item that you think is relevant for the local running community you can send an e-mail with the relevant details to tips@sfruns.com. Note that this isn't a replacement for city services so in case of emergencies call 911, etc.

Items that are submitted will be reviewed and as appropriate, shared with relevant local agencies and/or the SF Runs community. Feel free to contact me if you have feedback on this initiative.

If you missed the original screening on April 19, there will be an additional screening on May 9 of a film about the Boston Marathon, "BOSTON: An American Running Story." This film is narrated by Matt Damon. To locate a theater near you where this film is showing click here.
